Jennifer Armentrout's OBSIDIAN contains lots of answers for anyone who ever wondered where all those dreamy alpha heroes come from. They don't grow on trees, you can't find them in a cabbage patch, but one may have sat behind you in high school math class. Daemon is a baby alpha, which means there's an added immature gloss to the archetype, but as angry as he made me in this book, I could relate to Katy's breathless passion (and rage) every time. As much of a grade A "keep away" jerk Daemon was, Armentrout does a good job raising the stakes and explaining his behavior. Katy's scene with him at the end had me hooting with satisfaction, her line about her parents' relationship was beautiful, valid, and a perfect end to book one. I'm looking forward to ONYX, and hope the kick butt Katy of the last chapter shows up with her game face on. Look out, Daemon.
