Oh for the sweet, direct pleasure of a Harris heroine. I would never have guessed that I would grow so fond of the deadpanned inner monologue of these ladies, but be it Sookie's supernatural trials or Aurora Teagarden's mystery solving, I greatly enjoy slipping into their skin. Sookie and Aurora have more than tone in common, as both ladies have love lives that seem as messy and indeterminate as real life. Sookie has many wonderful men in her life, all of them with flaws and motives that muddy the waters of true love. The stand off with Eric was more heart wrenching than I expected it to be, I think I've always viewed him as a passing fancy. Of course, nothing is clear by the end of DEADLOCKED, and Eric is as much "in the running" as any of the other steadfast men who obviously still view Sookie as a possibility.
