Reading FROST BURNED sent me back to MOON CALLED for a reread. Lately when I revisit Brigg's world of werewolves, vampires, and walkers, I've been going to Charles & Anna's Alpha and Omega
books. I'm glad I went back to MOON CALLED, if only for the epiphany of what drives this reading behavior. My favorite part of Brigg's books are the character moments, development, relationships, triumphs. Alpha and Omega is heavy on the romance and growth of Anna and Charles's relationship. MOON CALLED and the Mercy books are more plot driven. I find myself flipping past supernatural events to find the moment where Mercy and Adam fall in love, to read the growth of her friendships and defining achievements of her strength. Much of the Mercy Thompson
books center on the growth of her powers and the political changes in the Tri-Cities, and while I relish these books the first time through, these revelations don't match what I'm looking for on a re-read.
